Volunteering is a great way to gain valuable skills and experience that will enrich your CV and help you to get started in your chosen career. It is also an opportunity to socialise, improve your self-confidence and to support the local community. Volunteering can be rewarding in many different ways.

The Students’ Union runs the volunteering service at MMU. Your Union has lots of different opportunities for you to get involved in, including being a course rep and volunteering in the community. There is a dedicated online volunteering site, where you can search for volunteering opportunities and keep a record of your hours and skills.

The Union:

  • Helps students find volunteering opportunities
  • Run workshops throughout the year
  • Advertises volunteering roles with local and national organisations
  • Runs partnership projects with local schools and charities that students can get involved in
  • Runs workshops to help volunteers get the most out of their experience
  • Rewards our best and most dedicated volunteers
  • Supports students to set up their own volunteering projects

Visit The Union’s volunteering website  to get started. You can also contact the Opportunities department at volunteering@mmu.ac.uk or on 0161 247 2211.
